Usefulness
"Grundbaustein" is the first step to a certificate. The diplome
Grundbaustein is recognised as evidence of basic language
skills.
Examiner
WBT-Weiterbildungs-& Testsysteme GmbH (formerly Prüfungszentrale
des Deutschen Volkshochschul-Verbands e.V.). Every year
roughly
7000 people sit the "Grundbaustein Deutsch" in German adult
education colleges and in other institutions in the rest
of
Europe. "Grundbaustein" will be replaced by the end of 2004
with the new exam "Start Deutsch 2".
